The group started out by packing the snow down to form a solid base for their snow cave. The snow was a out 3 feet deep; not quite deep enough just to tunnel under the snow. So a bit more work was required.

After about 2 hours from when we started, we have a comfy, roomy snow cave.

I've learned something new - other than skiers trapped by avalanches, I'd never heard of anyone doing this. I'm way too claustrophobic to do so myself, but it's great fun to live vicariously through your pictures.
oooo.... That is nifty.
Brings back memories of my childhood days in the Northeast . . although I can't ever recall building a snowcave that would hold 4 people like that!
