Bird Photography Weekly

Brewer's Blackbird

There aren't any around right now. They've all gone to warmer pastures. But I know spring has arrived when these guys return in earnest. I think they are quite beautiful, I love that piercing yellow eye. They can be very aggressive. When they're nesting they often dive bomb people coming in and out of the visitor center. You have to cover your head with something to keep from getting popped.

They are also very vocal and have a unique call. I certainly can't explain it. But if you go to this site, you can hear them. Scroll down a bit to "Songs and Calls".
