My Power Bird

I am also submitting this as my post for Bird Photography Weekly. I have to admit, the Dove was not the bird I imagined as my power bird. Somehow...well, it just doesn't seem really powerful. But i guess it isn't supposed to be powerful, just reflective of my personal power.

Your Power Bird is a Dove

Deep and emotional, you can connect well with almost any living creature.

You bring hope and optimism to any dire situation.

You are both gentle and affectionate with everyone you love.

Truly nurturing, most people consider you to be a mother figure.

And if I really stop to think about it, I find that these descriptions fit my best self, and I am quite content to let them settle into my psyche.

I know I have included the Mourning Dove as my Bird Photography Weekly submission in the past, it just seemed fitting to do so again today in light of my recent power discoveries.

These were taken through the window, so aren't the best, but I love that second picture... eyes closed, looking so peaceful and content.

Who knew that we had power birds? I'm going to take the quiz now. Thanks for sharing your owls and the dove. The full moon snowshoe hikes sounds great.I've heard that this January full moon is called a wolf moon. Have a great week.

One of my power birds are owls, because they see well into the darkness.

The dove must represent love and peace. Nice.

I can't resist these things either. My power bird is a vulture, which I am not going to interpret further, thank you very much. :)

My power bird is vulture, too--like Wren. It is not a bird I would have picked for myself, but they do have a grace in the air.

I like the dove's characteristic qualities - nurturing, gentle, affectionate, emotional. Sounds a lot like me. Maybe I should take the quiz, too! Wendy, I like your dove photos, too. Mourning doves are one of my favorite backyard birds.

I love the second picture! We get doves on our feeder and it seems that they keep their eyes closed while eating, it's so cute.

Hmmm... nurturing... I can feel that from a Mourning Dove... they almost purr when cooing too :) That's an affectionate sound.

My power bird happens to be an Eagle... I never would have guessed.

Hi Wendy, oddly enough, my power bird is a Swan? I can accept that, but I love Falcons ;-)

Great shots of the Mourning Doves. I really enjoy them, especially the way they vocalize when they fly.
