Bird Photography Weekly

This little Red-breasted Nuthatch has been coming around from time to time to feed on the suet. I was so pleased the first time it showed up. And have loved every time since. I had seen one only once before last fall, but only glimpses of it as it darted from tree to tree. So to have the chance to get good looks and a few passable pictures was great. They are so dang cute!

Even though this first picture is blurry, I like it, just because it's the first picture I have been able to take of this little, flitty bird.

I was of course very glad when it came back, and stayed a while. At least long enough to enjoy a few nibbles of the suet.

I love watching these little critters, even if it is for short little bursts of time. :)

Such a sweet bird! I would love to have one in my yard but have not been successful.

I'm so glad you posted that! I sing this little song with the kids about a nuthatch, but I've never known what one looks like!

I love nuthatches Wendy! They are so full of energy and their call always wakes up the other birds at the feeders.

I've only had White-breasted at my feeders but I love seeing the Red-breasted Nuthatch when I'm out birding.

Lucky, lucky you. We only have them in winter and I've never had one at the feeder. It always astounds me just how much smaller they are compared to White-breasted Nuthatches.

What a cutie, Wendy. I'm with you on blurry...I'll take my images anyway I can get them. You are so fortunate to have him coming around!

One of my favorites too Wendy. We have lots of them in the Wisconsin Northwoods but don't see them too often here is the suburbs. Is that homemade suet you're offering?

Also a favorite of mine, although I very seldom see them around here. So thanks for posting the photos of this cute bird.

A very cute little bird! Its great when a new bird starts coming to your yard and then stays long enough for you to get really good views. I've a couple right now that I am hoping will stay a while.

Aww, I love your little Red-breasted Nuthatch. They are so cute, and I love their call. We only seem to get them every other winter here, and this is an off year for them. Thanks for stopping by my site!
