Dinosaur on the Lake

But I missed the perfect photo op. I had to go back to try and get another picture of him, but he wasn't posing like he did the first time I saw him. Though these aren't too bad.

I biked to the lake in perfect, though somewhat windy, weather. I had planned to make the entire trip in about an hour, but after arriving at the lake, I was swallowed up in new bird after new bird for my year list. Two of those were new to my life list - this dinosaur, and a male and two female Hooded Mergansers. Also seen this day were a White Pelican, Black-necked Stilts, Tree Swallow, Barn Swallow, and the positive ID of Ring-billed and California Gulls. There were also American Avocets, Mallards, and another I couldn't positively identify, but thought maybe a Spotted Sandpiper. Oh, I also heard a Killdeer, but never saw the little fella.

It was a lovely day.

Today it's snowing.

Living here in NJ, we have DC Cormorants up the wing wang. But I have seen them in the interior also. But the Hoodies. That is another story. We have them all winter, but I NEVER tire of them. What a gorgeous bird. I loved your last sentence. It made me smile. Bev
