Squirrel Shelter

I was just going through old blog entries and found a few in draft form that I had forgotten about. I was asked by my supervisor to take some pictures of an old house in the park that was about to collapse. He wanted to record that history before it was gone.

The family who lived here has a history dating back to the late 1800's when this high mountain valley was newly settled. They abandoned this old home quite a while ago, and built a new one just a stones throw away. And although it hasn't been lived in by their family in years, it is not unoccupied.

It's current resident made a brief appearance to ensure me that the house was indeed being put to good use.

Occupied indeed! But they pulled the house down anyway?

It fell this past winter from heavy snow. :(
