Bio Blitz

Have you ever done a Bio Blitz? It's a 24-hour survey of all life in a particular area. This weekend I am participating in the first Bio Blitz held in Utah.

We begin our surveys at 5:00 pm tonight, and end at 5:00 pm tomorrow night. Different shifts are set up throughout that time period, with experts in various fields leading the groups. I am signed up for three shifts as an educator. My first shift is 8:00 pm to 1:00 am (looking for scorpions and various insects). I have a five hour break (nap time) and begin again tomorrow morning from 5:30 am to 11:30 am (looking for virtually everything). My last shift is from noon to 5:00 pm (Birds and Insects). I am looking forward to it. Hey, what could be better than spending all day just watching, monitoring, recording plants, animals, insects, birds, mammals, etc? I honestly can't think of anything.

The lack of sleep will undoubtedly make it a bit rough at times, but how fun overall.

I will have my camera, and I'll do my best to record bits and pieces of it to share.
